About Kathy Chapman

An Atlanta native, I grew up in Chastain Park, graduated from The Westminster Schools and The University of Georgia with a brief year at Vanderbilt University in between! My early career involved special event planning and National Advertising Sales both for a gift magazine and The Atlanta Journal Constitution. In 1997, I decided to go into real estate. My father, Edward Chapman, had been president of Chapman Realty Company, a commercial real estate firm, so I thought it a natural choice. That was 26 years ago!

I have been married for 38 years to J. Frank Walker, an Atlanta native who also graduated from The Westminster Schools, then travelled north to Harvard College and back down south to Emory School of Law. Our two sons both graduated from Woodward Academy. My older son, Jack Walker, graduated from Georgia Tech and is currently working in San Diego, CA as a consultant for Accenture Consulting. My younger son, Ben Walker, graduated from UGA, lives in Atlanta with his wife, Ivey, who is finishing her PhD in Consulting at Georgia Tech, and also works for Accenture Consulting.

Currently, I am serving on the Executive Committees at the Historic Oakland Foundation and the National Society of Colonial Dames in the State of Georgia. A former board member at The Junior League of Atlanta, I now enjoy being a Sustainer. I enjoyed directing weddings for over 20 years as a member of the Wedding Guild at my church, The Cathedral of St. Philip. I now plan to join the Funeral Guild going forward. Since growing up in Chastain Park, I have lived in many parts of the city including Buckhead, Brookwood Hills, Ansley Park and Morningside/VA Highlands. I have lived in detached, single family residences, duplexes and apartments. So in addition to being familiar with various neighborhoods in the city of Atlanta, I also understand how it feels to live in different types of housing.

I now reside in a townhome community in the Wildwood/Spring Lake Park area near Bobby Jones Golf Course and Memorial Park with my two standard poodles, Trinity and Bonnie. In fact, you have probably seen me with my poodles in tow walking up and down Howell Mill Road!
